Celebrity Health, Fitness and Beauty Secrets

Although it's not also as easy to look as fabulous as Jennifer Lopez or Angelina Jolie, we can certainly try our best.

Here are 10 celebrity fitness and beauty hacks and how we can incorporate these into our lives.

Lisa Snowdon and her collagen routine

What can we say? Our very own Correxiko fan and ambassador, Lisa Snowdon lives and breathes wellness - and puts it down to eating nutritious healthy foods, getting plenty of sleep, taking her vitamins and drinking lots of water.

She also starts her day “by drinking a big mug of hot water with a slice of lemon and taking four of Correxiko’s Wild Marine Collagen capsules. Then as often as I can, I do a breathwork meditation for 30 mins. This helps me get my mind and body into balance.”

Jennifer Aniston splashes ice water on her face

Whilst many will go for a cup of tea or coffee first thing Jennifer Aniston, heads straight to the freezer for a bowl of iced water.

“…my facialist taught me is just get a bowl of ice water and splash your face 25 times,” she shared in an interview with Vogue. “It’s an old-school trick that Joan Crawford used to do—it just wakes your skin up.

Sounds chilly but oh so refreshing!

Jennifer Lopez moisturises with olive oil

While we’ve talked about the many benefits of the good fats (omega 3 fatty acids) found in olive oil and how they can promote softer, smoother, younger-looking skin and reduce inflammation, Latino legend Jennifer Lopez believes in good old-fashioned olive oil for skin hydration and glow - a skin and hair care must-have passed down from her grandmother, mother, and aunts.

In an interview with Well + Good, she shared: “My mom, grandmother, and aunts all used it when they needed a little extra hydration on their face, hair, and body.”
Chloë Grace Moretz also swears by the oil and washes her face with it. “I swear my skin is so much clearer because of it," she says.

Billie Eilish likes to breathe more

Billie Eilish is a huge advocate of stress-relieving breathwork and says it has had a huge impact on her mental health. She even performed a breathwork exercise on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury in 2022 asking the audience to be “very present and feel good and think about the things that make you feel grateful and bring you joy.”

This type of breathing is not only free but can boast a whole heap of health benefits - specifically, lower stress levels and stabilize blood sugar levels which can all have a huge impact on your skin. It fully oxygenates the blood too - and the more oxygen that is in the blood the brighter your skin will glow.

Other fans of breathwork training are Fearne Cotton, Selena Gomez, Gwyneth Paltrow and Giselle Bundchen with Fearne saying “We’ve normalised rushing around and often need to step back and slow down.”

Angelina Jolie says less is more

Angelina Jolie says her secret to ageless beauty is to stick to a routine that is simple but effective, and as natural as possible.

In an interview with Refinery29, Dr Rand revealed Jolie’s low-maintenance routine which is  “…really just sunscreen, proper cleansing with a mild, gentle cleanser, antioxidants, sometimes glycolic [acids], and natural products.

Another of the Hollywood actress’s top tips is to “go as makeup-free as much as possible, and always take your makeup off before bed to prevent pore-clogging.”

Scarlett Johansson washes with apple cider vinegar

Not only does Scarlett Johansson like to drink a glass of hot water with lemon before her morning coffee every day she also told Elle UK that she likes to wash her face with apple cider vinegar, rather than exposing her face to the harsher chemicals found in traditional cleansers. In fact, many people use apple cider vinegar as part of their daily beauty regime. It is a cost-effective, 100% natural and organic way to keep your skin feeling fresh and supple. Before you go ahead though be sure to mix up a diluted mixture of 50% water and 50% apple cider vinegar and be sure to try the solution on the skin on your hand or elsewhere before putting it on your face. Although there is no scientific research to back it up it’s thought that the malic acid found in the vinegar works to unclog pores, lighten dark spots and overall balance your skin's pH levels.

Miranda loves Matcha

Australian supermodel and Victoria Secret’s model, Miranda Kerr, says that she likes to add matcha green tea to her smoothies. According to ‘A day on a plate’ video by Harpers Bazaar, the star says it’s one of her favourite ingredients to include in her morning drink.

And with137 times the antioxidants than regular green tea (when comparing drinking 1 regular cup of green tea vs drinking 1 regular cup of matcha), we don’t blame her. The drink is packed with anti-ageing properties which help slow down the ageing process by preventing oxidation, inhibiting mutation of DNA and helping to restore damaged DNA.

Beyonce burns with HIIT

According to her trainer Marco Borges, Beyoncé uses a mix of interval training, weightlifting, and calisthenics to stay in shape and build strength and endurance before her shows - and we all know the effects that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) can have on your body and skin (link to the ageing gracefully blog). Not only has research shown that vigorous exercise, especially (HIIT), can slow your ageing at a cellular level by nearly 10 years. But the benefits don’t stop there — exercise also increases blood flow, moving oxygen and critical nutrients throughout your body, leading to a more youthful appearance.

Drink up like Taylor Swift

An oldie - but one that is so important is hydration. Taylor Swift keeps her skin healthy fresh and glowing by drinking loads of liquid - aka a lot of water. The American singer told Bon Appétit that she has "so much water in my dressing room—because I drink, like, ten bottles of water a day. That's pretty much all we have in there." she said.

Water is great for clearing the skin and keeping it young and plump because it helps removes pollutants whilst improving your skin’s natural radiance by helping to replenish your skin’s tissue and cells, which results in younger and healthier-looking skin. It also boosts the immune system. In fact, scientists from the National Institutes of Health found that adults who aren't sufficiently hydrated may age faster as well as face a higher risk of chronic diseases than those who stay well-hydrated. Drink up.

Megan Fox keeps her showers short and sharp

As one of Hollywood's most alluring actresses keeps her complexion clean by taking short showers. Not only do these showers help cleanse and prevent clogged pores and textural issues but she keeps some short because “hot, longer showers produce dry skin by removing natural oils.” Therefore, she likes to keep the water lukewarm and limit her bath and shower time to help heal and prevent dry skin.
